In the State of Kentucky, minors are NOT permitted to drink alcohol under any circumstances. If you are in a private residence and accompanied by a parent, guardian, or spouse who is over the age of 21, there are still penalties for underage drinking. However, in virtually all other scenarios, possession and/or consumption of alcohol by persons under the age of 21 is strictly prohibited in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Any person found guilty of such a violation shall be guilty of a Class I Misdemeanor, and, upon conviction, ordered to pay a mandatory minimum fine or ordered to perform a mandatory community service as a condition of probation supervision and (ii) the license to operate a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth of any person age 18 or older shall be suspended. For those under 18, the court may deny (under certain circumstances) the issuance of a license all together! Kentucky’s DUI laws are stricter when it comes to minors. If your blood alcohol content (BAC) is over .02%, you may be convicted of driving under the influence, as opposed to the .08% threshold for persons over the age of 21!
Unlawful purchase of alcohol by minors
Using a fake ID to purchase alcohol can also result in suspension of your driver’s license. If you have been charged with using false identification to purchase alcohol, it is crucial that you consult with a knowledgeable criminal defense attorney.
